This book is one of the works published by Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy, Azamgarh, on the occasion of the Shibli Centenary Celebrations. It was released in the Shibli Centenary International Seminar held during Nov Dec.
The book is authored by Dr. Javed Ali Khan, who is an associate professor of History in Azamgarh’s Shibli National P.G. College. It contains a detailed account of life and works of Allama Shibli Nomani, the renowned Islamic scholar, eminent thinker, famous Sirah chronicler and historian who was for long an associate of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. The work is important as the first detailed study on Allama Shibli in English.
Divided into eight chapters, the book discusses the life and times of Allama Shibli, his contributions as a Sirah chronicler, historian, poet, educationist, reformer, promoter of Islamic learning and oriental languages. Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani
Allamah Shibli Nomani was born on June 3, at Azamgarh, India. He was a respected scholar of Islam from Indian subcontinent. He is known for the founding the Shibli National College in and the Darul Mussanifin in Azamgarh. Shibli was a versatile scholar in Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Turkish and Urdu. He was also a poet. He collected much material on the life of Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH) but could write only first two volumes of the planned work the Sirat-un-Nabi. His disciple, Syed Sulaiman Nadvi, made use of this material and added his own and wrote remaining five volumes of the work, the Sirat-un-Nabi after the death of his mentor.
