    Sapna Mukherjee

    Gifted with a melodious voice, Sapna Mukherjee won various accolades for the song ‘TirchiTopi wale’ from Tridev. The song was a huge hit with people accepting it openly. She won the Filmfare for it as the Best Female Playback Singer. KalyanjiAnandji gave a kick start to her career by offering her a song from the movie Janbaaz in 1986.

    Later on, she went to work with many known music artists. With Abhijeet, she had a new learning phase. With Mohammed Aziz, she gave some of her best compositions, with Sonu Nigam she got more professional, and with AlkaYagnik she had a good rapport. 2006 saw the release of her album ‘Mere Piya’ which contained her solo as well as duet performances with LataMangeshkar and Sonu Nigam. This brought her fame and popularity. She performed abroad as well.

    In spite of having the talent and potential to move forward, she did not receive as much appreciation as her colleague AlkaYagnik. Her voice has a kind of naughtiness one seeks in a song worth enjoying. On a personal note, she is an ardent follower of SatyaSai Baba.
