    Helen Margaret Wylde Mayhew

    Helen Margaret Wylde Mayhew passed away peacefully on August 26, 2013 in Upland, California, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 8, 1925, to Ellen Ritchie Wylde and Alexander Wylde. She had two brothers and a sister who, along with her parents preceded her in death. Helen married Alexander Mayhew in 1947 and traveled to Japan, Germany and several states as an Army wife. She gave birth to six children, three boys and three girls in nine years - each one at a different Army station. The family settled in the El Paso, Texas, region where Helen lived for over 45 years. Her husband passed away in 1979. Helen lived a full life of 88 years and remained close to her six children, Sharon Hodges, Debbie Kost, Jim Mayhew, Tom Mayhew, Jacki Hoover and Jerry Mayhew, three daughters-in-law, Barbara, Kathy and Linda Mayhew, two sons-in-law, Al Hodges and Don Hoover, ten grandchildren and their spouses, and three great grandchildren. She mourned the loss of Gary Compton, her daughter Debbie's partner, who passed away in February of this year.
